The Felinius Healer Excerpt



Kira searched his eyes again, and tested him. He told the truth. The interesting thing about his story was his mental musings. He always figured on a country club wife. She saw the women he dated in college. They were all human, all refined, and all cultured. From his musings, she deduced he planned to fly back to Dhanghai, and join his father's medical clinic. Tristen didn't plan on love. He planned on a respectable social position, and a great medical career.

"Now, I have a few more important questions. First, do you intend to ostracize me from the Agra Medical Clinic?" She didn't know why she asked because she already knew he was authoritative, demanding, controlling, and dictatorial. She didn't see how they could possibly work together. And she knew dictatorial people rarely had her best interest in mind. When push came to shove, Tristen would do the same thing as Chief Bahadir. He'd send her away.
 
"No one is being ostracized here. You're welcome to abide with the human settlement. And if you follow my directions, you're welcome to share my patients. Our arrangement is quite simple. When you're in my hospital, I'm the head physician. And when you're out here..." Tristen spread two arms over the expanse of the surrounding jungle, "You're in charge. This is your healing world, and you're in charge out here."
 
"It's my birthmark isn't it? You think I'm dangerous, power hungry, and evil. And you'll send me away. You won't share your patients with me. I know it." She tried to look into his mind one more time, but the effort was too much. Fear seized her heart. She slipped from his mind. A mind touch was useless. It was time for her to go …
